"If I were going to boil down what I love about WKU to just two things, they'd be small class sizes and personal attention," says Rachel, an '09 Exercise Science major. "I talk to friends who went to other schools and they can never get hold of their professors. That's not a problem you have at WKU."
Rachel says that coming from a small town, she wasn't sure she'd be happy away from home, especially at a larger state university. However it only took one visit to WKU to convince her that she'd found the right place.
"I looked at quite a few colleges, but once I came to WKU, my search stopped," says Rachel, who is also a member of the WKU Women's Soccer team. "I loved the campus, the area, the professors, my coaches, my teammates. Everything here seemed like a perfect fit for me."
Rachel graduated in December 2009. She says that looking back, it's the personal relationships she's formed with faculty and staff that gave her the biggest edge in her education and her career.
"I had the best advisor in the world," Rachel says. "He helped me decide what to take each semester. In fact, I'm graduating early because of him. He coached me every single semester."
What does Rachel have to say about graduating?
"Honestly I don't really like to think about it since WKU has become a second home to me," she says. "I love it here so much, I'm staying for grad school!"
Individual attention. Welcoming environment. Caring professors. Just a few more examples of how WKU is becoming a leading American university with international reach.
