Taylor Bennett will tell you right away that the average WKU student has a remarkable amount of passion for the University. But during her freshman year, she wanted to take her love of WKU a step further. That's when Taylor tried out for the Hilltoppers Cheerleading squad.
"I love being a part of the WKU All-Girl Cheerleader squad," says Taylor. "It has broadened and expanded my spirit for WKU and the exceptional students and student-athletes."
Besides an abundance of school spirit, Taylor says the cheerleading program has given her the opportunity to learn teamwork, perseverance and dedication - qualities that have proven very useful in her field of study. Taylor is a middle grades math major, and is involved with the SkyTeach Program at WKU.
"Being a SkyTeach student has allowed me to give back to the community as well as the education system. Volunteering my time to help young children is rewarding because I know I have made a difference whether it be by spending time with them after school or helping them with their homework," says Taylor.
The SkyTeach Program allowed Taylor to get into the classroom early and helped affirm her decision to pursue a career in teaching.
"I know for sure that I want to be a teacher. I started in the classroom early, and that's where I want to be in my career," says Taylor.
Hands-on learning. Rewarding experiences. Limitless Passion. Just a few more ways WKU is becoming A Leading American University with International Reach.
